Our coalition brings together a tange of organisations, groups and individuals. These include Disabled People’s Organisations (DPOs), grassroots groups and charities united by a shared vision of Independent Living for all.
Everything we do is shaped through genuine co-production, not consultation after decisions have been made, but a shared process where lived experience, expertise and ideas come together to influence the direction of our work. Together, we are building a movement for a social care system that enables people to live with choice, control, independence and equality.

"The Roadmap raises some important questions about how the Care Act is currently being applied and whether the reality of practice aligns with the original aspirations around wellbeing, independence, choice and control. There are times when those principles can become diluted through bureaucracy and risk aversion.
Once somebody has entered the system, it can appear as though their needs have been addressed, when in reality there may be needs that remain unmet, under-met, or are only being managed through the goodwill and resilience of family carers and other informal support arrangements.
Too often assessments can become transactional or service-led, and there is value in reminding ourselves that people are the experts in their own lives.
Most practitioners I know did not come into social work to become gatekeepers to services. They came into the profession because they want to help people live better lives."
