Who We Are
We are a broad coalition of organisations, groups and individuals including social care recipients, disabled people, unpaid carers, professionals, academics and allies. We have worked collectively to come up with a practical plan to achieve our shared aim of justice in social care and fully realised Independent Living.
This Roadmap draws on years of lived and learned experience. It brings together our separate campaigns and expertise into one shared vision and practical route to achieve this.

Why This Matters
Social care matters because it enables people to live full, independent and meaningful lives. Yet the public conversation around social care often focuses on one part of the system: older people living in care homes. While this is an important part of social care, it represents only one experience. Thousands of disabled people and older people rely on social care every day to live in their own homes, stay connected to their communities, work, study, build relationships and have choice and control over their lives.
This is why the Roadmap to Independent Living Coalition matters. We need a shared vision for social care that recognises its true purpose: not simply responding when people reach crisis point, but enabling everyone who draws on support to live a good life, with dignity, independence and equality.
